What will life be like when you are old? Will you look around and wonder what
kind of example you are leaving for others?
Psalm 71:18 tells us: "Now also when
I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to
this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come." Old, but still able to make
the difference for those around you and even for those to come. What kind of example
will you leave for others to remember you by?

Have a great day!

Yours in Christian Love,

Michael Morton

Most of us want to look our best when we are out in public. We are concerned
with how others will see us. We want to be seen as one who knows what is current
or what is "in". We may even go to extremes in copying what we see and try to duplicate
it. God looks at us as the individual not as He sees others.
1 Peter 3:3-4 teaches: "Do not
let your adornment be merely outward...or putting on fine apparel; rather let it be the hidden
person of the heart...which is very precious in the sight of God." God sees us from the inside
out and He wants us to know that our beauty should come from within. When our heart is right,
then it will radiate to the outside and others will see what we are made of because of
our life with God.

Have a great day!

When the weather is threatening, we might want to move to a warmer climate.
Sometimes just a change, like a short vacation might help in how we feel about
things.  The same thing is true with our attitude about where we are spiritually.
Maybe we need to move!!!  Perhaps an attitude adjustment can make the difference
for us.  Try using a positive approach for awhile and see.  Begin the day with the idea
that you are going to see only the positive things or you are going to turn that negative
into something positive.  In Genesis 12:1 God told Abram to leave and that He would
show Abram where to go.  God may not be telling us to physically move, but He wants
us to move spiritually.  Philippians 4:11 includes these words:  "I have learned in
whatever state I am, to be content”.  No matter where you live or what the weather is,
you can have sunshine days if you have the right attitude about how you are living.

Have a great day!

We are told to dial 911 in the event of an emergency.  If we look at Psalms 91:1
we have help on the way also.  "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."  Look again at what is found in Luke 9:11,
"But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to
them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing."  How about
what is found in another 911 example:  2 Corinthians 9:11 "while you are enriched in
everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God."  Nice to know
that we have some 911's from Scripture to call upon when we need help.

We are constantly trying to be lifted up while Jesus is constantly trying to help
us to see that we can only be lifted up when we bend down.  Take, for example,
the story of the towel used by Jesus to become a servant as He washed and dried
the feet of the disciples.  That towel stands as a reminder for us.  Mark 8:34 says:
"Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross,
and follow Me."  It isn't easy to carry a cross without bending down to pick it up.
We might be called upon to use that towel as we dry the eyes of those we meet
along the way.  A servant would have a clean towel ready when it is needed.
Bend down, pick it up and use it.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a genie that would give us anything we asked for?
Such was the case with Solomon, but he had a God who would give him whatsoever
he asked.  1 Kings 3:5 says, "At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream
by night; and God said, ‘Ask! What shall I give you?’”  A wide-open offer.  What would
your answer be to that question?  First, we think of riches maybe, or a better life. Maybe
some would even want a better relationship with a loved one.  How about answering
God with a prayer, that He helps you to use what He has already given you?  God has
given us so much, especially a life to live.  If we begin there, we will have riches untold
now and in Heaven if we are faithful to His Word.

It is wonderful to see a group of people working together for a good cause.
I love what we saw happening on the highway in Atlanta when those people
were stuck for hours.  Strangers came to offer help to strangers and much
good came from that.  Psalm 133:1 tells us: "Behold how good and how
pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!"  People, doing what
is right, at the right time, made a tremendous impact for the whole world
to see.  Those few people made up for the thousands of us who were not
there but prayed for help to come to them and it did!

We are constantly advised to get a regular check-up.  Why?  Because we can
ward off trouble if we find something wrong ahead of time.  Isn't that true of our
spiritual health also?    A self examination is one where we take a good hard look
at our heart from the inside and we examine our attitude and thinking.
2 Corinthians 13:5 says, "Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith.
Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless
indeed you are disqualified."  Lay out what you think a good Christian ought to be
and how he should live that life and then see if you measure up to your own standard
of how that should be.  It is hard to see ourselves as other see us, but when we step
back and look at how Jesus wants us to live and then look at all the areas of our life
and evaluate thins, it can be telling.  If we are doing the same things the same as we
did last year or the day before, that isn't maturity.  Reach out, find new opportunities
to walk and talk like a mature Christian.

In the Bible, Jesus taught that we can not have a life without a relationship with
God any more than we can live without air.  The relationship we have depends
on our relationship with God and others.  That way we better understand the
teaching of God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and the Son.  John 1:1 "In the
beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
This meant that God had three manifestations, all of which were in a relationship
with each other.  Jesus was always in a relationship with God while here on earth,
but maintained a relationship with us as well.  We can't survive in isolation.  Nurture
those relationships.

Kindred spirits complete you.  Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are
gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”  Isn't it nice
to know you are not alone and that there are others who are the same as
we are?  Jesus knew we need to feel a community connection with others.
It is comfortable to look around a room and see a group of people looking
quite different, but having something profoundly in common at the same time.
Jesus said He would join us in that union of those who believe as He does as
we join each other there.

Have a great day!
